My great friend and colleague Stephen Bungay publishes great content on his blog. His recent article COVID-19 A Note for Leaders is well worth a read. Drawing on observations from a 2005 DTI wargame based on a fictional pandemic Stephen identifies pointers for leaders in the current crisis:

1. Think forwards and prepare for life after COVID-19.
2. Set broad direction based on the most accurate set of beliefs you have.
3. Make a sequence of decisions to adjust course as your hypothesis about the future is tested.

This pandemic will teach us to deal with existential threats and high uncertainty. It’s also an opportunity to evolve working practices better suited to our 21st century future.

Over the next few weeks and months we will be producing more content providing specific support to leaders and trying to identify what the ‘new normal’ might look like in the post-pandemic era.
