Our team-working solutions are built around The Five Behaviors®

The Five Behaviors® is the result of a partnership between Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions and best-selling author Patrick Lencioni (The Five Dysfunctions of a Team Jossey-Bass 2011).

The Five Behaviors® transforms teams through an intuitive and relatable model that identifies the drivers of team effectiveness and productivity.

Who is it for?

True teamwork is powerful and elusive. The Five Behaviors is a cornerstone methodology for any organization wanting to benchmark and improve the quality of their teamwork.

Teams are the building blocks of organizations

To get important things done in a complex, interconnected, and networked world, we rely on teamwork.

The State of Teams white paper results from original research by Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions. The paper concluded that:

Teams in today’s workplace are more complex, more fluid, and more dispersed than ever before

What’s involved?

The Five Behaviors experience starts with an assessment that combines computer-adaptive testing and sophisticated algorithms to deliver precise, personalized insights to each team member.

Each team member receives a robust, personalized profile that helps drive understanding of self and others within the framework of the Five Behaviors.

The profile comes to life in a customized training experience that engages and educates with impactful activities and powerful discussions that address all essential behaviors for effective teamwork.

The experience goes beyond teaching inclusion or conflict management. Teams learn the foundational principles for building a cohesive team and the discipline required to overcome barriers caused by natural tendencies that make effective teamwork so elusive.

89% of The Five Behaviors learners say it improved their team’s effectiveness.

Leading Change Limited is proud to be a Five Behaviors Authorised Partner and has a team of certified Five Behaviors facilitators.

The Five Behaviors® Model

The Five Behaviors® model takes the form of a pyramid, with each behavior serving as a foundation for the next. In practice, every team is like a living organism: everything is connected to everything else and, when teamwork becomes challenging, causal links may be hard to establish.

Though the idea is simple and proven, the model challenges teams to rethink their approach when working together.

The Five Behaviors® model focuses on building skills and understanding in the areas of Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results which provides a common language for your teams as they navigate the ever-changing world of work.

Five Behaviors Solutions

There are two complementary Five Behaviors solutions. One for teams and one for individuals.

Both Five Behaviors solutions combine the framework of Patrick Lencioni’s model for teamwork with personalized insights, based on Everything DiSC®, to create powerful, customized, and authentic team development solutions that empower individuals to make lasting change.

Five Behaviors Solutions

Five Behaviors Team Development

The Team Development solution helps intact (formed) teams gain the know-how to work better together. Before you commit to Five Behaviors team development, we ask two fundamental questions:

  • Are you really a team?
  • Are you willing to do the heavy lifting necessary?

The Five Behaviors assessment helps team members better understand themselves, the personalities on their team, and how they can work effectively together.

This solution is designed for teams with a minimum 6-week tenure. For new teams, we can deliver a Five Behaviors ‘Better by Design’ package for team launch followed by a survey once the team has sufficient experience of working together.

A Typical Team Development Programme

  • Initial discussion with the client organization
  • Team briefing event (usually online)
  • Five Behaviors Team Development self-assessments
  • Coaching discussion with individual team members (optional)
  • Facilitated Team Development foundation workshop to explore the results in detail, identify areas of team strength, and where opportunities lie for improvement.
  • Planned modular interventions over 3 to 6 months to develop and implement planned actions to improve teamwork
  • 6-month team progress report
  • Programme evaluation

All team development solutions provide an option for a progress report after three to six months, enabling the team to track their progress and set new goals for their teamwork.

Five Behaviors Personal Development

The Personal Development solution helps individuals learn the skills they need to “team” effectively on any team and build a culture of teamwork.

How many organizations list ‘teamwork’ in their values? Well, this is a great solution for creating and scaling a culture of teamwork and collaboration across organizations. Individuals don’t need to be part of a specific intact team.

The assessment is conducted online. The report profile includes an introduction, a section devoted to each of the five behaviors, and clear, practical information about the contributions the individual makes and areas that they may wish to consider developing further.

This solution is about teamwork and helps people to carry the principles from one team to another.

In many organizations, teams flex their composition to the situation and task requirements. To do this they need shared values and culture, transparent goals and projects, and lines of communication that enable a free flow of information and feedback: precisely what the Personal Development solution was designed for!

A Typical Personal Development Programme

  • Initial discussion with the client organization
  • Five Behaviors Personal Development self-assessments
  • Distribute personalized reports
  • Facilitated workshop for a group, or individual coaching, to explore the results in detail, identify areas of strength, and where opportunities lie for improvement.

The focus is on helping individuals better understand, internalize, and apply the principles of The Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team model and to foster communication that can be used throughout an organization.
